I have a philosophy that I take care of my own first; and only if I have some leftover, I give to others. I admit, I have an internal hierarchy in which I place family, friends, coworkers, and such. But essentially, it means family and friends get before I give to strangers. I will not give to a homeless person if it may mean that I cannot give to mine. I do not leave big tips, because I would rather use the money to help mine. It may sound mean, but why would I give to someone I don’t know when I can give to someone who has helped and been there for me.
What do you think about this? How do you feel about this philosophy? What thoughts does it spark in you?
